What Is The Evidence For Ghosts?
By way of a quick summary here are some of the main pointers the many consider as evidence of ghosts and research that is suggestive of the continuation of life after death. There are in-depth articles about all of these topics on the main website sections linked from this page.
GHOST EVIDENCE: Psychical Research. The society of psychical research conducted a number of experiments to explain what ghosts are. Many researchers now believe that theory originally put forward by Sir Oliver Lodge that some ghosts may be a ‘recording’ in places where a tragedy has taken place. Experiments conducted by the Society Of Psychical Research noted that some animals will become distressed when taken to places where violent deaths have taken place.
GHOST EVIDENCE: Historical ghosts –All civilisations have believed in ghosts. The assumption has been that they are the spirits of the dead but many modern ghost researchers now believe that they can be projections from the unconscious mind. For example, poltergeists may be a manifestation of spiritual energy projected by some people and in particular by adolescent girls.
GHOST EVIDENCE: Another theory is that some ghosts are phantoms of the living. This is a form of astral projection or thought transference (telepathy) There are many cases on record of sightings of the ghosts of living people. top
